Our First Chapel of the Year
This morning was our first chapel of the year, and it was such a sweet time for Lower School. Our Dean of Students, Malcolm Saxon, led our time together, and we loved greeting all of the children and asking about their school start as they came in. You would have been encouraged as I was by their their smiling faces, their self-assuredness, and their attentiveness throughout our chapel time. From the oldest to the youngest, to hear them singing out words like, by faith alone in Christ alone, and I am a promise, and to watch their enthusiasm reminded me of why we are all here. What a privilege for these young children to pray, praise, and open God's Word during their school day!
Pastor Carl engaged them in thinking about books- all kinds of books (and when he held up a phone book and asked what it was, I loved hearing from behind me, "A comic book!") Consistent with the Christ-centered education you want for your children, he explained to them how our teachers would be teaching them that God is the author of all truth, that we cannot separate truth from God, and that the Bible is central to our learning at CCS. Students quickly joined him in reciting that "God's word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path" and other verses written on their heart from years of scripture memory for many.
Your children are growing in their understanding of God's word and learning to use God's word as a filter for their thinking and decision making. It is a truly a blessing to be a part of that. CCS is a special place, and we are grateful for it. We praise God for a wonderful start to this year!
